Idioms – Charlie

Idioms are just about the same type of things as a figure of speech. Idioms are expressions that aren’t meant to be taken literally. Like the expression, “it’s like taking candy from a baby.” That idiom is something people say when they mean to say, that whatever they are going to do is very easy. However, taking candy from a baby may be easy, but it is not something people will do on an everyday basis. It’s also not very easy to get that baby to stop crying after you’ve done it. And in other idioms, like “it’s as easy as pie.” That expression also intends that whatever you’re going to do in easy. But if you have ever seen your mother baking a pie, it’s easy to tell that it is not easy whatsoever. Idioms are also used a lot in movies. In the next movie you watch, pay close attention to what the actors say. Most of the time, scripts call for a lot of idioms. It’s just your mind does not notice them.

#stu – DREAMS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL 2013 Charlie

My dreams for middle school in 2013 are to have more options for arts classes. I feel like there are not enough options for arts classes. In the second trimester I could not make up my mind between two things that I completely dislike. I ended up picking one, and that just so happened to become my arts 2 class. I was very disappointed. So far, I really don’t find the class very fun. I also hope that we can get more break time.

I think that students in the world should have better education all over the world. I mostly hope such for my country, the USA. I have heard of statistics about what countries have the  best in academic classes. USA is something like 20th in Math and Science. I don’t feel pride in my country thanks to that statistic.

Book Talk – Charlie

Have you ever felt you have a hard life? Do you feel life is unfair? Well if you read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel, by Jeff Kinney, you would have a completely different perspective. Greg Heffley (the main character) has a hard life, but just like all the other books in the series they are about Greg’s diary. Although in this book, Greg starts to get older, and is now getting interested in new things, and when the new middle school council decides to have a school dance, Greg needs a date or he feels he will be embarrassed. Greg will try just about anything to get a date to the dance. Like I said before, he doesn’t want to be embarrassed. And on the night of the dance, just about everything goes wrong. How’s Greg gonna get out of this “Sticky Situation?” Find out in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel,” By Jeff Kinney.

Beowulf Letters – Charlie

Dear Beowulf,
I was hoping that you could come kill this monster who has been terrorizing my kingdom and frankly ruining my life. I want him dead! I hope you will respond to this, because the only man who can kill this monster is a man with as great strength and power as yours.
Sincerely,
Hrothgar

Dear Hrothgar,

I would be honored to help you in this mission to slay the beast in which you speak of! I shall meet you at your humble manor in 4 days. I also wanted you to know that I was very happy to get this letter from you! It has been a long time since we have seen each other and I would like to catch up!

Best Wishes,
Beowulf

Dear Beowulf,
I was so very happy to get that letter back from you. Thank you ever so much for doing this! My warriors will be so happy when I tell them that you will be fighting that beast Grendel!

Thank you so much!

Hrothgar

“THE POWER OF WE” by Charlie

Blog Action Day

The power of we (to me) means helping and doing everything we can to make the world a better place, like helping your community, and donating to charity. This is the  kind of action that makes you a good person. I also think that if we all do something that eliminates anything that makes the world a worse place, than the world would be one of the best places possible. I hope that someday, people would look at the world and see what they can do to make it a better place.
