I Recommend Twitter In Schools – Charlotte

I think schools should use Twitter because it’s a great way to share what you did in class or a project that you’re working on. It’s a good way to connect with other schools and see what their learning about. But some things are bad about Twitter because there can be spams or when you click on a link it might not show up as what it was supposed to be. Most likely you won’t see spams or anything because there is adult supervision in the class.  Also it’s a good way to get a point across or the word out to others.

Dreams for 2013 – Charlotte

My dream for 2013 is that our school has no tests.  I have a bunch of reasons why we shouldn’t have tests in the middle school. Tests make students pressured and stressed out. Instead of tests, we should have an independent worksheet/packet, so that way teachers can see what level they’re at and students don’t feel stressed.  Also some students don’t do their best in test because of their nerves. There are a lot of different ways for teachers to find out how students are doing, without tests. I know that PDS is not a test school but we still have some test and I hope that we have no tests in the middle school.

My world wide dream is for schools to be more of communities. I want schools to interact more with each other and learn from each other. I know that we Skype with others schools, we use twitter and we blog. We should take another step in this and find ideas to interact more. One idea is that schools do big projects with other schools . It would be so cool if we could go to a school and meet the students there and do a really fun project. Maybe not the whole school but some grades doing a project together. Our school is a really comfortable community and if we stretch that even farther other schools or just even one school could be apart of our community.

Halloween By Charlotte

When I heard about how bad Hurricane Sandy was going to be, my hopes for Halloween were not high. My mom said if it was too bad she would do a Halloween in our house. She said that my sisters and I could knock on all of the doors in the house and she would be behind them opening the doors and giving us candy. But not every door she would give us candy. Sometimes my mom would do a trick to us instead of a treat. At the end of the Hurricane it wasn’t bad where I was and I ended up going trick or treating normally, outside, on Halloween.

Beowulf Poem – Charlotte

Beowulf came to destroy Grendel the beast, so Hrothgar’s men could drink and feast.
When night came upon he slept long until he heard something stirring in the night.
He got up crept to his men and told them the dangers ahead.
Grendel approached with a mighty roar and tour down the doors and anything else in his path.
When they came face to face Grendel took the first move and destroyed one of Beowulf’s men.
Then Beowulf with all his strength pulled and pulled on Grendel’s arm till it rip off.
When the beast was gone they hanged his arm on the wall and feasted in joy.

Book Talk by Charlotte – The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is a special person who has powers most people wouldn’t have. His dad is Poseidon which makes him a demigod, which is half God and half mortal. These powers help him throughout his many quests. He goes to Camp Half Blood to learn how to use his powers. In The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, Zeus’s lightning bolt gets stolen and Percy gets blamed for it. So he goes out to find the lightning bolt, with help from Grover and Annabeth. Grover is a satyr (half goat and half mortal) who is Percy’s best friend and protector. Annabeth is daughter of Athena.  Athena is goddess of wisdom, so Annabeth is pretty smart. Annabeth is his friend and sometimes his competitor. The three face many challenges trying to find the lightning bolt and give it to Zeus before it is too late.
