“I don’t mind if I have to sit on the floor at school. All I want is education. And I am not afraid of one,” said a 15 year old Pakistan girl named Malala in her UN speech. I bet you are wondering who she is and why she is so important to human rights and education for all. Malala is a women’s right activist. She thinks that everyone should have education.
One day on her way home from school she heard someone say, “I will kill you.” She picked up her pace and looked back to see if the guy was following her. The guy wasn’t, he was just on his mobile probably threatening someone else.
After that she started to get worried a couple weeks after, She was in a vehicle on her way home from school armed men stopped her vehicle, They started to fire and two girls were injured severely and Malala was shot in the head. She was in a coma for a long and she just barely survived. After that she wrote a book about why education is important.
Malala and I think that it is important for everybody to have education no matter their skin color, religion or gender.
Some of her quotes:
“We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced”
“The extremists are afraid of books and pens, the power of education frightens them. they are afraid of women.”
“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”
