Twitter in schools – Joanna

I think that schools should be allowed to use it as long as they are not following and/or letting someone follow them that tweets inappropriate tweets. Twitter is a great tool as long as you use it properly. The older the class is the more likely that  they will use it properly. There are a lot of cool things you can do on twitter that you can’t do on a blog or something like that. There are people like Tim and Moby that are on twitter. Another good thing to make sure is that the person that the class is going to follow is educationally connected so that they are not some random person but a teacher from the school or something like that. Schools should have an account if they want one but it should never be forced into doing it. It is also fun making tweets to tweet out. There are a lot of good things on it like funny pictures or videos. Some things that are on it are really educational but some are just fun.

Book Talk~Joanna

If you were about to see your boyfriend that you haven’t seen in six months how would you feel? Happy, excited, nervous? That is how Annabeth was feeling in The Mark of Athena’ Rick Riordan, third book. Annabeth didn’t know how to feel about going to pick up her boyfriend Percy who had disappeared six months ago. Percy was at a camp for the Roman Demigods (yet Annabeth and Percy are Greek Demigods). The Mark of Athena is a heart wrenching tale about seven demigods and their dangerous quest to save the world. The prophecy that they are following is very dangerous, after all it is the second great prophecy that some of the seven were a part of. To find out what happens to the seven of them read The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan, the third book in the Heros of Olympus.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan – Joanna

If you woke up on a bus and didn’t know where you were or worse who you were then you might feel like Jason. In The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, Jason, Piper and Leo who are half bloods (half-god and half-mortal) are sent to a camp that is for kids like them and they discover some neat things. Some of these are that Greek gods are real along with all of the monsters from the old stories. They have to fight for their lives many times in the story. Jason is a son of Zeus god of the sky, Piper is a daughter of Aphrodite Goddess of love and Leo is a son of Hephaestus God of fire and blacksmiths. They all have little secrets that they don’t tell anyone. In the book you find out more about the gods that Jason, Piper and Leo didn’t know about.

My dreams for middle schools around the world – Joanna

Here are my dream for the world’s middle schools and ours:

That all of the classes are fun so no one will want to fall asleep, because school should be fun, since we are forced to go to it. It is not fair that teachers teaching really boring subjects don’t have fun projects. They should bring in fun projects and activities and games and more. It should be that way not just in lower school but in all of the other levels to. If certain classes got to do things that other classes didn’t that would be like giving candy to a couple of people and then saying that I don’t want to the give the rest away, sorry.

Beowulf by Joanna

Dear Beowulf
I am Hrothgar King of the Danes and I need your help. My kingdom is under attack by a night stalker. People can no longer sleep safely in my mead hall. I was wondering if you would like to kill the beast for me. Many people have tried to kill him but no weapon that we know of can penetrate his thick hide. I have heard that you have the strength of thirty men. Beowulf you are my last option but no one has been able to kill him.

From Hrothgar

Dear Hrothgar
I would be honored to slay this mighty beast. I do have the strength of thirty men I am a hero to most Kingdoms. I will make your mead hall a safe place to feast once again. I do not need a weapon to kill this monster. He will bow before me like a cowardly dog. What is his name?

From Beowulf

Dear Beowulf
His name is Grendel and is a troll kind and a night stalker. He walks to my mead hall just after the setting sun has gone down.
From Hrothgar

Power of We

The power of we to me is working together to make things happen like dances and really fun things. If people don’t work together nothing will happen. People will argue and then every time somebody has an idea nobody will hear them out. Then a good idea will get lost. It will also make someone feel hurt if nobody will listen to their idea. It might make them feel like nobody likes them. To me, if somebody will not listen to me it makes me feel that they want their idea to win and not somebody’s idea to even get a chance to be heard. But if you work to together amazing things will happen. People will be happy and not sad and down.
