This week there is a major problem in the United States. This major problem is the Government shutdown of 2013. A few  of the reasons this happened is because  the republicans and democrats can not agree on a passing a budget plan for the United States and  have not agreed for a little over a week now. The reason why the Government shutdown is so bad is because veterans, National parks, National museums school websites,and more  are closed and when they are closed no people are payed. Speaking of people not getting paid, that is another big problem because the government is getting paid. What everyone except four people are doing is giving it away to charity, two are undecided, and the other two are keeping it. The democrats side to this whole thing is that they want the budget to be passed , and the republicans side to this is that they do not want the budget  to be passed.If they don’t pass  it soon the debut ceiling  be passed that will not let the United States  borrow  money from other countries. All of the National workers are not getting paid till the government shutdown is over. The problem with that is  that they have to pay for stuff like there house and electric bills now.Right now 800,000 are not working and not getting paid because of the government shutdown. I had an interview with Marcia Jacobowitz-Paz a lawyer at Jacobowitz & Gubits and this is what she had to say about the Government Shutdown of 2013.

Leah P– So Marcia what do you think about the government shutdown?

Marcia J P-I think that the politicians in Washington are being very selfish. They are putting their own interests and beliefs ahead of their people.

Leah P-What would you do if you were in congress?

Marcia J P– I would listen to the voters act in accordance with their best interest and I would support the president and the laws enacted.

Leah P– As you heard, about congress getting a paycheck what do you think about it?

Marcia J P– they should not be getting paid! They are the ones that got our country in to this big mess. If no else who works for the government is getting paid why should they.

Leah P– It as been an honor talking to you about politics.

Marcia J P– I hope you learned a little about politics.

I think this whole government shutdown is a mess. Many people hope   this mess will be over so the government can open things again and people can get their paychecks, and so do  I.

There are many human rights problems from hunger to freedom of  speech. I am only  covering  one of many, which  is  racism.  Racism goes around the  world  from  Africa  to Asia.  Racism is from little things from bullying someone because of their religion  o killing people because of their  religion.

Racism in everywhere and I want to change that . In Europe  From  1933 to 1945 there was a major act of racism. It was called the holocaust and it killed six million (mostly Jewish) people.  It was lead by the Nazi party  and some people still agree with that action today.

In North America there is racism on the internet  also there used to be slavery. In the middle east  people are against girls going to school, and there are major problems about religion.  In Africa, more and more people in Zimbabwe  are racist to the white farmers because they have lots of land. In Australia there was a problem that people did not want nonwhites to immigrate there because people said that Australia was  being swamped by people who were not white.

So as you can tell there is racism all over the world  and I want to change that. I think schools around the world should make clubs to stop  racism. It is little things that can change big things. Lets make a change … Lets stop racism! To find out more click on this link.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to the internet and I want to tell you about some of them.

Have you ever heard about Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook? They  can be dangerous. Some of the ways they can be dangerous is if you have a weak or common password someone can hack into your account. Another reason why they can be dangerous is that if you post something rude, racist, or a bad word everyone can see it, and if you want to get a job and you posted something bad they can see it you might not get the job.

There is are also advantages to the internet. Some of the advantages to the internet are that if you have a project you can do research on that report, also if you need to connect to your teacher about homework you can email her or him. There are so much more  advantages to the  internet that I can’t write (or type!) right now. But I believe  that in the future the  internet will become safer & better

There are many places in the world that I want to visit, but I am only going to tell you some of the places I want to travel to. The number one place I want to go to is Greece. Some reasons I want to Greece is because I really like their  culture and their food. Somethings about Greece are that the money they use is a euro, their official language is the Greek Language, and their capital is Athens. Another place I want to go to is Spain. I want to go there because I have a little bit of Spanish ancestry and it is warm in Spain. Some fun facts about Spain are it has a king ( Juan Carlos I of Spain) the official language is Spanish, and its capital is Madrid. Another place I want to go to is Italy. The reasons I want to go there is because they have many museums, and they have a very interesting and ancient history. Its main language is Italian, the type of money they use is  a euro, its capital is  Rome, and its national anthem  is Canto degli_Italiani. The last place I am going tell you about is Australia. The reasons I want to go there are because my cousins live there and I want to learn more about their animals. Some fun facts about Australia are it’s population is 22.68 million in 2012, it’s prime minister is Tony Abbott , and it’s capital is Canberra. These are only some of amazing places I want to visit.

Hi! My name is Leah, and I want to share some things with you about my town. A couple fun facts about the history of Montgomery is that it is over 250 years old, and it is named after a Revolutionary War general. Where I get a good bit to eat  here are Copper Fields, Ward’s Bridge Inn, Iron Café, and 88 Charles Street. Some places I love to be in Montgomery are Veterans  Park and Willow Hill Farm. At Veterans Park there is three baseball/softball fields. Also at Willow Hill Farm you can ride and take care of horses and ponies.
