Edublogs challenge 4 Activity 2

Which of these topics affect your country? What is your government doing about it? If you are able, without getting into trouble, give your opinion of the topic and how it affects you as a student. What could you as a student or class do to help solve the problem?

 

One topic that is affecting our country is the government shutdown. It is affecting our country  because many, many people are not working and all the tours at west point are shut down right now. Also, as you can tell our congress and government are not doing anything about it. I hope soon, hopefully in a couple days the government will be up and running again so many people can start working so they can provide their family with money for the things they need. I think the government shutdown is not that smart because for me some of my friends parents are not working because of the government shutdown. Also one thing at the websites at our school that we use for work is ruined by the government so we cannot go on it any more.So those are some of my thoughts of the government shutdown. If I could do something about the government shutdown or my class could do something about it I would. I would make a petition or try to get many people I know to stand up and protest so the government shutdown will stop because I do not want any more jobs or places to be taken away. From West Point to the Walkway Over the Hudson this needs to stop. So I hope people all over the country and even you can go and make this stop.

 

Mira’s Favorite Things – #9A – Mira

In my life I like many things but I would like to tell you some of my favorite things. I am going to tell you about some of my favorite movies and my favorite color. If you know me even if you just met me you would know what my favorite color is. My favorite color is pink  ever since I was little because  I always liked that color and I think it is really pretty. Another of my favorite things are my favorite movie. One of my favorite movies are the Hunger Games because it is really suspenseful and I like being at the edge of my seat whenever I watch a movie. It is just so much fun sitting on my couch eating popcorn while watching movie on a dark and cloudy day. Also another of my favorite things is my favorite book or book series. My favorite book is also the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins it is the same as the book but I love reading it over and over again. Some my last favorite things I want to tell you about is my favorite hobbies and activities. One of my favorite activities or hobbies is singing. I do it every free second I can because I just love because it is my passion. Another one of my favorite hobbies is hanging out with my friends, my sisters and my family. I love my family and friends and just talking and getting to know them better and better every day. The last thing I want to tell you is about my favorite animals. I love many animals but my top three favorite animals are a dog, cat and a horse.I actually have 6 pets. My dogs names are Sasha,Nila and Delilah. My cats name is Babe and my horses names are Night and Theo. At my barn my sister and I are in a club and we raised over 300 dollars for the equine rescue center and we are going to save and abused pony.  Now that you know some of my favorite things I hope you know a little more about me.The Hunger Games – Scholastic

Activity 2. Are there any foods you eat that come from your grandparents home country? What recipes have been handed down in the family?

There are many different dishes passed down from generation to generation that I would like to tell you about, and maybe you will like some of my family’s homemade recipes. There are many dishes passed down from generations  from my mom’s parents to my dad’s parents that I want to tell you guys. I am 10 different heritages so I have a lot of different recipes. I am Spanish, Russian, Polish, Irish, Scottish, English, German, French and Swedish. So there are a lot of different recipes that my family has been passing down for many years. Like in my family we have a special Irish soda bread. I hope when you go home tonight you find a recipe that has been passed down from your family.

 

Global Read Aloud-Out Of My Mind – Mira

Out Of My Mind Book

This year my middle school is reading Out of My Mind. Every other day at school we read a part of this book, but everyday a different teacher reads it to us. So far this is a great book and I think many people from middle school would enjoy this book a lot.

 

When we read this book we always talk and discuss our feelings and what we think about the characters and other stuff. Also on our class twitter account we had a group chat with two other schools from around the world. One of the classes was from Wisconsin and the other class was from British Columbia. It was really fun because my teacher posted questions and everybody who was on the twitter chat could answer them. It was really fun and I hope another day we can do that again .

 

The last thing I would like to talk about some of the characters in the book. The first character I would like to talk about is Melody. She is the main character of the book but there is something different about her. She has Cerebral palsy which is a disability where her body can not move and she cannot talk but she is really smart. Also another character is her dog Butterscotch. Butterscotch and Melody get along very well because neither of them can talk and express their feelings. Finally, the last character I want to talk to you about is Rose. She is a girl in Melody’s inclusion classes. In the beginning she was really nice but then she was drifting a way from Melody a little because she did not want to loose her reputation of being “cool”. I think that was really mean of her to do that just because Melody is different it does not mean she should just exclude her from many things. I hope you read this book and enjoy it.

Activity 5 (Human Rights)

Education For All

Human rights is a very important matter in this country. Human rights is many different things like racism or world hunger. I am going to talk to you about a matter I think every person in the world should get, it is …education. Education is a very important part of our life because if you get a  job and  you need to know how to read and write at your job it is very important to know. Even if your parents have to home school you that is fine, you just need to be educated some way. Many kids do not learn how to read or write maybe because their parents do not know how to read or write or their families do not have the money to provide them with the stuff to be educated.

 

Also adults should be educated or get educated because if they have kids or already have kids they could help teach them how to read or write. If I had a choice I would make every kid in the world be able to get a great education so that they can have a great life ahead of them. Maybe someday that might happen wouldn’t that be great.

 

One last thing I would like to talk about is maybe do a program where  3 or 4 hours every day after school kids could go to a place in their local town or city and get educated. So they can learn how  to read and write better. Maybe even small things like learning how to count from 1 to 10 or learning the alphabet people can always find a way to make a difference. So let’s have everyone get together a make a difference in this world. Every person counts! #BAD13  #13stubc.

 

A Day in the Life of Me! By Mira

Blogging Challenge #3

Hi! I am Mira. Do you want to know what it is like in a day like mine? I wake up very early, around 6:30 then I get dressed and have breakfast. I leave my house and get to school around 8:00 a.m. When I get to school I go to my classes. Then after a long day of school I go home and hang out with my friend’s and family . My sister and I also love playing with our dogs. Then my parents come home around 6:00 p.m. and all four of us have dinner. Sometimes we get take-out and sometimes my parents make something at home. Then my family and I watch TV. We like to watch the Food Network and the Voice. Then after that, I go to bed around 9:00. Well I hope you liked learning about my day!

Wait a minute, I forgot  some things that I like to do and some activities I do after school! I love singing, so one day I go to singing after school and also on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I play soccer after school. The last thing I do after school is that my sister and I are in a club at our farm and we do fundraisers and we play games and talk. Before I get to any of those activities, I have to drive for almost an hour to get to school and back. On the drive to and from school my sister and I talk and listen to music and it is usually really fun.

The last thing I want to tell you about is the technology at my school. Everybody has a computer and we use them for most of our school work. I like how we get to use computers for most things instead of writing by hand the whole time. We also have smart boards which are really cool. I love all the technology and how we get to use it everyday it is great. I hoped you liked learning about a day in the life of me!

Hi! I am Mira . I am going to tell you some interesting facts about Montgomery.  I live in Montgomery , NY. The place where I live is very interesting and I would like to tell you about it. Montgomery has been around for 255 years!  Montgomery is named after General Montgomery after he died in the Revolutionary war. Now many people live in Montgomery, there is a Village and a Town of Montgomery. There are many good restaurants ,tourist places and my favorite ice cream stand. Some of the tourist places are village hall, the Montgomery park, baseball and softball fields, some historical houses and Montgomery Elementary School. Another thing that I love about Montgomery is the food! There are so many good restaurants ! Some of the restaurants I love are Copperfield’s, Ward’s Bridge INN, Mike’s deli, Franco’s and 88 Charles street all of them hold a great variety of different food and cuisine. My favorite place in Montgomery is ……. Richard’s Ice Cream Stand!!!! It is delicious and it holds over 50 different ice cream selections. The last thing I want to tell you about Montgomery is the Wallkill River. The Wallkill River is so beautiful and one different thing about it is that it flows north and most rivers flow south. So now you know many different, interesting and wonderful places in my hometown Montgomery.

Hi, my name is Mira and I live in Montgomery, NY.  I live with my mom, dad, twin sister, three dogs, one cat and two horses.  I love horseback riding and swimming and I am on a swim team called VAC (Viking aquatic club ). I love to sing, go shopping and hang out with my friends. This summer and last summer I went to a day camp called Camp Redwood \. I had the best summer ever ! I got to hang out with so many of my old friends and I made new friends – it was probably the best summer of my life. I also love cooking and baking. Right now I am at my first year at my new school, Poughkeepsie Day School. I am in 6th grade and I am loving it . I am having so much fun meeting new people and getting to know them and becoming friends with them. I hope the rest of this year is as great as it is now!!!
