ONE FOR THE MURPHYS
Recently, we have read about how Carley and Toni are becoming friends and how Carley and the Murphys are becoming more like a family than just people who have to look after Carley. In the chapters that talk about Carley and Toni, it sounds like they are starting to see how they have a lot in common. For example, Carley thought that her mom was the only person who loved her. For Toni, it is the exact opposite. Her mom is the one that she feels does not like her but her father does. After Toni forgave Carley for not telling her the truth, it sounded like they liked each other more than before. I think that because this is a book, and not real life, Carley and Toni will be friends until it is finished. If this were real life, they would most likely have a few more fights and then go through the same process.
Looking at how Carley first felt about the Murphys and how she feels about them now, you can see a huge difference. Even with Daniel, she has become okay with being around and interacting with him. The biggest difference between Carley and the Murphys is Daniel and Jack. With Daniel, the difference was made by them being about the same age and liking the same sport. Compared to the start of the book Carley and Jack have become a lot closer. For example, early on in the book, she heard him saying that although they liked her, she was still not a member of the family. Now they feel comfortable enough to sit next to each other and watch a Red Sox game. Most likely, they will all like each other for the rest of the book .
If I had one guess at how this book will end it would be:
The Murphys will adopt Carley and she will want to go with them. Then the police officer from the beginning of the story will show up and this time Carley will tell the truth. After she goes through one last up and down of regretting and loving her new family, all will end well. I think that this is the most likely story unless the writer likes sad endings. If so, everything would be the exact opposite for Carley. There is one other thing that could happen. Another possibility would be to take all of these endings and combine them into one. Then the story would end up having Carley go back to her mom and missing the Murphys. That would make a dramatic ending and last in your head. The writer could have done that so you want to go out and buy more of her books. Whatever the ending may be, I can’t wait to read what happens.
