Nature’s Classroom – Eden

In 2016 I went to Becket, Massachusetts with my school for a program called Nature’s Classroom. It was quite a fun trip doing all the different activities and making memories we had made there. I had many favorite parts and some parts I wished I hadn’t experienced.. But for the most part is that it was  a lot of fun. On the day of our leave we had ended up having a snow day. So, we had a delay, we were originally supposed to leave at 8:30am but in the end ending up leaving at 1pm and arrived 4 hours later at 5pm due to snow conditions. After we got there we were greeted and were taken to our activities and the trip began.

One of the things we did was choose classes, I did one specific class called “Feed Your Face” that involved in putting different foods and other things on our face, lips and arms and seeing/learning about how it helped us. Our teacher Ana (Nicknamed Bloodhound) let us experiment and taught us about the different pores we were cleaning and relaxing our facial muscles. We also got to make and eat an edible lip balm with some cocoa powder in it. We tried to keep it on our lips as long as we could, but the temptation was too much for most of us. At the end before we left, out teacher let us have orange slices with some sugar on them, a nice winter treat!

Another class I took was called Squid Dissection, in this class we got to watch a squid being dissected. A group of kids including me sat around our teacher at a table and we watched him dissect a squid and we got to touch some of the parts like the heart, stomach, eye, and brain! As gross as it sounds, we had gloves and luckily, nothing sprayed out at us! We also got diagrams and got to see what parts the squid had and how it all worked together. Lastly but not least we got to pass around small pieces of the squid and see what all the functions did. By accident our teacher cut open the stomach and this weird liquid substance came out, but it was a cool color right?

So, we did do a lot more in Nature’s Classroom but I’m afraid that’s all I can write for now, but it was a great experience and I am excited for my return next year. I am excited to find out what new adventures will overcome me next year and have the memory of 2016 snowy Nature Classroom in my heart forever. See you guys next year!

Week #4 Halloween from 5 to 0 by Milaura

I went trick-or-treating with 5 of my closest friends Hope, Lily, June, Samatha, and Gracelyn. June wanted Tiffany, so we met up at Jane’s Ice-cream. Then we started trick-or-treating. I’m at the 27th house, I have not seen them since 22th. I got really scared so I went back A bit. Phew! I found them 3 houses down at a creepy house I had not seen that one before. They rang the doorbell, It opened. I saw only 4 of the six left. They ran faster than a cheetah. they took them! they took them! so the five of us ran to my house. When I turned back only 3 out of 4 were there. Then I saw the last 1 disappear. That is how I lost 6 people in one night.

The Scarred Man By Zacharias

In the fog of London, England there was a prowler that lost his left eye in a knife fight and he also had scars all over his right leg .

This man was looking for somebody to take his next victim to take hostage. In London there was a little boy and he lived with with both of his parents. On a Tuesday night the little boy’s parents went out to dinner and  they left the boy at the house. That night the one eyed man went into the vicinity of the house.

The prowler went into the house and he opened the door and saw the boy sleeping in the bedroom. He crept silently towards the boy. The boy pretended to be asleep so acted fast and jumped out of bed and ran out of the building. The scarred man was shocked by the boys quickness.  The boy ran all the way to the place that his parents were having dinner that was just a few blocks down the street.

Now the strangler was scared and he ran out of the house and tried to catch up with boy and get him again but he lost the boy at the next ally. The boy went into the place where his parents were having dinner and told them that a scarred man almost grabbed him.

The boy’s parents ran into the street where they saw a uniformed police officer. The scarred man ran out of an ally right towards them.  The police officer grabbed the scarred man and took him to prison. All of London was calm and quiet. The boy slept well that night.

THE AWAKENING By Fiona Starr

It was an ordinary day in Bexley London for the Martin brothers. The two boys were sitting at their dining table eating porridge. Their Mother Margaret Martin had two boys; Henry Martin and Peter Martin. They lived in an old wooden house, in the corner of town where nobody ever went.

“Mum,” Peter mumbled “I heard something in the walls.”

“Oh I’m sure it is nothing sweetheart.”

Peter  walked over and knocked on the wall, and suddenly everything started to shake. Peters bowl of porridge smashed on the wood floor.

Everything went dark as they heard a creaking noise coming toward them.

“AAH!” Henry screamed. He was no longer in the room.

“HENRY!” Margaret screamed.

She rushed to the door gripping Peter’s arm. She pulled on the handle but it fell off.

“Oh you think it will be that easy.” A mysterious voice said as margaret’s whole body turned into a skeleton.

Peter ran as fast as he could to the dumbwaiter. He got inside and used the rope to pull himself up to the 3d floor. He ran to the corner of the room, trying to breath as silently as possible.

“Oh this will be fun HAHAHA!”

Peter grabbed the salt on a small table across the room. It was said that no demon could cross a salt line, But this creature was not a demon. He made a small circle around himself. “Ha, you think those silly little tricks will work on me! I am not a demon you foolish boy!”

Peter felt a chill run over his back. A black smoke whistled around the room, as a loud and bright flash commenced. Suddenly a horned creature crawled slowly over to him.

Peter was dead in a second and nobody ever knew what happened to the Martin family.

Surprise By Eden

It  was Halloween time in SC, but little did Abby know that she’d be in for quite a surprise.

Abby woke up to bright sunlight filling her room, when she remembered that her mother had left on a work meeting.  Abby was 13, and she didn’t mind being home alone. Later on in the day, right around after treating herself to a delicious early Halloween dinner she heard a noise. Thinking it was just the old house or an old prank she ignored it. She listened again, and the noise was coming from the attic, the attic, she had never went into the attic before she thought.

As days past, Abby kept hearing noises. She obviously did not want to go see what it was, because that’s what people do in movies and it never ends up well. Abby ignored the noises most of the time, until one night… listening to music, she popped out her earbuds and thought, “What can it be up there?” She had to go take a look. Abby walked up the creaky, faded old steps, opened the attic door slowly and closed her eyes. When she finally managed to open them to take a peek, she couldn’t believe what she saw.

Spilled water was on the floor, stuffing everywhere, and mini food pieces spread around. Then she saw a note on the floor. She picked it up and saw – Love Mom. Abby saw something flash across the room and go behind a box. She moved the box slowly and saw something she had always wanted… a cat. She realized her mother had left everything needed for the cat. Abby heard her mother come in and ran downstairs. It’s Halloween she thought, but this is better than candy. She hugged her mother and said, “Thank you!

On Halloween night. In a dark alley, there was a man dressed in black. He was very still and he did not move at all or make any noise. His name is James. Then another man walked past the alley on the road coming back from work. James starts slowly following him. He starts hearing: I’m going to kill you I’m going to kill you… He doesn’t care what he is hearing he keeps on walking.

When he gets home his wife and James are standing there looking like they are possessed. Then his dog comes out of the house and starts attacking him, he is freaking out but he is staying calm. His wife and James usher him to the lawn and bring him to the swing set. They have the swing set up like it was a guillotine with a real blade. James put his head under the blade. Then the blade starts to fall. The blade hits his neck and his head falls off.

Then everything goes back in time to when he was at work sitting at his desk about to fall asleep. He then realized that he was sleeping and having a bad dream. He looks at his watch it said 6:00 pm. So he starts heading back home. When he gets home his wife and James were standing there with knifes ready to kill him. So James and his wife bring him to the swing set that was turned into a guillotine. They then drop the blade on his neck. This time he actually dies. Now he rests in peace (R.I.P.).

Hollow Walls By Adam

About a month after his roommate moved in on Halloween night, Ethan heard voices inside the wall. He asked Tom frequently if he heard voices, but Tom shrugged it off and said he didn’t. Although Ethan knew he could hear them, because whenever he ask Tom always began to act oddly.

One day he heard the voices louder this time saying “Get out, he-” and then the voices cut off with a loud rumble.

Tom was walking down the stairs directly after. “Whoa we must have mice or something,” Tom said.

“Yeah, I guess so. See you around.” Ethan left and headed to the RA’s room leaving Tom to do whatever he wanted. He knocked on the RA’s door and when no one answered he went back to his room. Four days after he was walking down the hall, he saw a missing person report on his floor’s  poster board with a picture of Martin. Ethan went back to his room thinking about Martin going missing.

Ethan woke up to see Tom standing in his room with a baseball bat about to swing at Ethan.

“Oh, umm wanna go play baseball?” Tom said nervously. Tom was getting shakier by the second.

“Yeah sure let me just grab my bat and gl-.”

Ethan shot his leg up and kicked Tom’s head knocking him out. He dragged him to the wall locking him behind like the others. They were screaming so loudly Ethan couldn’t even hear himself think, so he covered their mouths with duct tape and closed the wall back up.

“Oh that’s why? I thought I was crazy,” Ethan said as he began to laugh.

Tom woke up gasping. “Ethan would never do that to me” Tom said.

“Oh really?” Ethan said as an evil grin spread across his face.

The Scratching By Violet

The Scratching

As Cecelia walked into her new apartment on Halloween night after trick-or-treating, she noticed it was not like the others. The peeling paint on the off-white colored walls, the cobwebs that lined every nook and cranny, and the creaky, splintery stairs made Cecelia shudder. “Thank you sir,” She handed the doorman a tip, but noticed that he had a long scar stretching across his eye, making him blind, and overgrown fingernails. He walked away and slammed the door behind him.

Cecelia started to take her  belongings out of the boxes , but then she went to the lobby to ask if there was any other rooms available. The woman at the front desk said there wasn’t any because it was such a popular building, so Cecilia decided to stay and clean it up. An hour later she went off to sleep. She got into her bed and turned out the lights.

Scratch, scratch, scratch! It was exactly 12:00am when Cecelia woke up to the horrible sound. It seemed to be coming from outside her door. She suspected it was just her radiator and went to sleep.

About two weeks passed, and every night at exactly 12:00 she heard scratch, scratch, scratch! Every time she ignored it. One night at 11:59 she crept up to her door, fed up with what was happening. Scratch, scratch, but before the third could happen, she opened the door. In front of the door was the doorman, blood dripping from his head.  Cecilia’s eyes locked on his. For a second they just stood there, but then the doorman lunged at Cecelia and pinned her down, knife in hand. The doorman used it to cut across her eye. She tried to call for help, only to be muffled by the hand covering her mouth.

The Girl Who Watches – By Tess

The school bell rang pounding against my eardrums like drumsticks. I walked out of class onto the hard pavement and took a deep breath of the fresh air. Today was Halloween so we were let out of school early. I jumped into my car to drive to the coffee shop down the road. There I would meet my two friends Jax and Aaron. Jax is 17 and really nice. He’ll never let a friend down. Aaron is different. He’s funny and always goes off a subject. I pulled my thick hair into a ponytail and started to drive.

Once at the coffee shop,  I sat down at Jax and Aaron’s table down putting my backpack beside me. “Hi Margo,” Jax said.

Aaron put a newspaper in front of me. I looked at him with wide eyes. “Read it.”

I picked up the paper and scanned through it. There was a house where a girl died and was supposably haunted.

“Well?” said Aaron raising an eyebrow.

“Well what?” I said back.

“Wanna go?”

I looked at him like he was crazy then said, “Whatever, but if we get in trouble it’s your fault,”.

I stood at the tall door. My hand shook as I turned the doorknob. I took a step into the dark house. Everything was dusty. All the furniture was covered by white sheets. Jax pulled out a camera as Aaron made some stupid comments. I stared at the stairs and walked to them.

Once at the second floor, I looked down a long hallway then heard a big crash come from the bedroom. We walked over and saw a girl. Her clothes were torn, and dry blood sat under her fingernails. I jumped and ran down the stairs with Jax and Aaron behind me. I never turned back.

The Scar by Ryanne

It was Halloween night and they were getting their costumes when they realized they were alone.

“Benchy, try to call them. We have to find our parents, and hurry!!”

“Scarlet, no one picked up when I called them.”

“Give me the phone, I’ll try,” As she dialed she shivered thinking about her parents.

A strange voice answered. The voice said, “You must be looking for your parents. Well, they’re at Halloween Park. Don’t worry, they’re fine. Actually, they’re not. Hopefully see you soon.” Then the voice hung up.

“Let’s go Benchy!” Scarlet was headed to the front door.

“But that’s what they want us to do. It’s a trap.” He wanted to go save them, but he was scared. Scarlet gave him a nasty look and kept walking. Benchy ran after her because he was scared for her. When they got to Halloween Park they saw a huge globe. They saw their neighbors, two children and their parents in the globe.

“Benchy, come hide behind this box. We have to think of a plan.”

They glanced at their parents as they talked. Then they noticed their parents disintegrating. Their bodies were slowly turning to soil. The man said, “Finally, my Halloween flower can grow. All they ever needed was the soil from humans.” They heard their parents last scream and they turned entirely into soil. Scarlet started to cry; she kept thinking she could have done something to help.

Benchy ran out. “Benchy, come back,” she whispered, but he could not hear her over his screams. Then, not paying attention, he was captured. As Scarlet watched her brother disintegrate slowly; she saw a knife and grabbed it. She sliced her arm, shoulder to wrist. When she touched the scar she would remember the pain they all went through that day.
