Elizabeth’s Nature’s Classroom Post

In the Middle School, there are 3 grades, 6th 7th and 8th. The 6th and 7th grade go to a place in Massachusetts called Nature’s Classroom. Nature’s Classroom is almost like a big fun camp in the woods. You do all sorts of fun activities and learn how to be nice to nature. Since I am in 6th grade I went to Nature’s Classroom this year.

I had known about this trip since the beginning of the school year.  I remember my brother had gone so I kind of knew what would happen. He told me that it was lots of fun! The 6th and the 7th grade had met a couple of times and talked about what would happen. Since the 7th grade had been the year before they told us what it was like. They had all kinds of crazy fun stories to tell. When they were talking about it they said all these things to do and not to do which was very helpful.

Finally, it was the day to go to Nature’s Classroom! Of course we had had a perfectly warm winter and the night before we were supposed to go we had a huge snow storm. But it did not affect our plans because we went anyway, although we left 3 hours late! When we got there I could already tell I was going to have a fun time! Over the course of 4 days we played awesome games and we had fun outdoor winter activities to do.  At the end of the 4 days I was sad to go but I remembered I would come back next year!!

The Zipper By Elizabeth

The Zipper

Modern Instrument Of Torture

The sticky pink cotton candy was stuck to my chin and it made me laugh. I liked the way it felt. I licked my lips and started skipping to catch up to my brothers. I was wearing my favorite dress, a nice mint green dress with big pink roses all over it. I grinned and puffed out my chest trying to show off my Big Blue ribbon. Me and my brother had just won first place in the music department of the state fair. I was very proud!!

As we were walking my brother told my mother, “We have have 8 tickets left.”

“We do?”

“Yeah can we PLEASE use them!”

“I don’t know maybe we should give them too somebody else. We really need to get on our way home.”

“ Please!” my brother whined.

I personally wanted to get more cotton candy not go on another ride.

“Alright fine you and Elizabeth can go on one more ride”

“What me? Why don’t you go, I want more cotton candy.”

“No more sugar.” my mom said.

“But I really want-” My little brother interrupted me with his loud crying. My mom picked him up from the ground where he had tripped.

“How about we go on the zipper, it’s my favorite ride.”

“ OOOOOO That sounds like fun!” I half shouted.

I completely forgot about the cotton candy. I loved zippers the way they sounded and felt. Now all I wanted to was go on the ride called the Zipper.

“Colin you take them to the ride while I take Owin to the bathroom.” my mother said.

“Alright let’s go!” said my dad.

When we neared the ride I looked it up and down. There were about 15 cars with different decorations on them.  It had a long stretch in the middle that spelled the words THE ZIPPER!!!!! The ride was moving when I neared it it went up and down and sounded exactly like a zipper moving up and down.

“Let’s go Elizabeth you are about to go on your first upside down ride!” said my very exited brother.

“Upside down ride.” I said very slowly.

“Yeah!” said my still very excited brother.

“I don’t think I want to do it.” I said.

“What that’s not fair you already said you would come on it’s not scary.”

“Daddy I do not want to go on it.”

“Come on you already said you would and I will be right here waiting for you.”

“I do not want to do it!” I said very angry and scared.

“Why are you scared?” My brother taunted.

“No I just do not want to go on it!” I yelled back at him.

“Alright then we are going home.” my dad said.

“No!” my brother cried.

“Then you have to go on a ride right now!” my dad said now very stern.

My mom appeared then and said, “What’s going on?”

“Aidan wants to make me go on an upside down ride and I do not want to!” I said suddenly crying. I was so afraid that my daddy would make me go on it and I would die.

“It will not be very scary,” my mom said in her very soothing voice.

“Yeah Elizabeth it’s not that scary,” my brother said.

“But I don’t want to go,” I protested.

“Aidan why can’t you go by yourself”?

Because you are not allowed too. You can only go with two people!”

“ Elizabeth Cuite if you do not get on that ride right now you will never have cotton candy again. and you will have no TV this weekend!” my dad said in a very stern angry voice.

I almost fainted when he said that no cotton candy ever again. How could one live like that. No TV for an entire weekend, again how someone live like that. Instead of responding I just started sobbing. Then my mom said,

“ Fine I will go on the ride with you Aidan.”

“ You will”? Aidan asked in doubt.

My mom hated rides. Period. They made her sick. I recalled when we went to the fair last year and she came of a very slow spinny ride and she thought she was going to vomit. I just imagined what would happen if she went on a upside down ride. I felt bad immediately.

“ No mommy I will go on it.” I said through tears.

“ You will?” Aidan asked.

“ Yes.” I said as a new wave of tears came over me like a wave.

I walked towards the ride with Aidan trailing right behind me.

“ Tickets please,” said the ride attendant.

I almost didn’t go on the ride when I looked at the ride attendant. He had grey hair that looked like it had not been washed in like 10 million years. He had a very dirty scraggly beard. His eyes were almost as black as the T Shirt he was wearing.

“ Here you go.” Aidan said.

He handed the ride attendant the tickets and walked over to the very scary looking cart. I stepped into the cart sat down. The ride attendant came over and locked us in. The wall that kept us from falling out had metal wires and big puffy things to hold on too. The ride started.

I gave a yelp as the ride jerked its way up. I held on to the big puffy things as tight as I could. Then I made the mistake of looking down. The big fat tears started again and I begged my brother too make the ride stop. We were about 35 feet in the air.

“ Aidan I really-”

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” I screamed we had fell down and had done almost 4 flips in a row. The tears stopped for some weird reason. I realized then that I was having fun. We jerked up and down doing more flips around and around. I started laughing. I was having a lot of fun. I looked at my brother who’s face was like a tomato from going upside down so many times. I felt the ride stop and I wished it hadn’t. We hopped off the ride, I thanked the scary looking ride attendant and ran over to my parents. Aidan right behind me.

“ How was it?” my mom asked.

“ It was great!” Aidan answering for me.

I looked at my mom a big grin on my face and said.

“ Can we go again?”

My Passion – Singing – By Elizabeth

I have many passions such as singing, acting, dancing, and horseback riding. But today I will only talk about one… singing! I have been singing since before I can remember. It has become a big part of my life. I am always singing around the house. I remember I used to love singing to the track of The Sound of Music. I memorized the entire soundtrack.

I think I love to sing because I can express my feelings. For example, if I sing an Ed Sheeran song I would sing the words but would probably sing it with a completely different feeling than him. He could have written the song about his friends but I could sing the song thinking it was about falling in love.

This past year I started writing songs. I love writing songs because when I sing them they are sung truthfully.  I also got three of my songs recorded over the summer. I have to say that was probably the best experience I had ever had.

This is a video of me singing, “How do you solve a problem like Maria”. ( This was from when I was 4)

My Holiday Experience!!!!!! By Elizabeth

In my home we celebrate Christmas. Every Christmas Eve we have a big brunch with our friends. Then we go to church. At church my brother and I perform Christmas songs before the service begins. At the end of the service it is a tradition for my brother to play Silent Night on the violin. All the people hold candles and sing along. At the end of the service we go home and read Twas The Night Before Christmas, and then we go to bed. I can never fall asleep on Christmas Eve because I am so excited. In the morning at around 5:30 a.m my brothers and I wake up and jump on our parents bed. Then we go downstairs as a family and open all of the presents. Then family comes over and we have a big lunch. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!!

Here is a great fun thing to do on Christmas day. Click This Link

My Blogging Reflection – By Elizabeth

Carefree Tim via Compfight

During the nine weeks that I’ve been doing the blogging challenge, I earned about many things including Nature, Commenting, Food, and lots more. I especially learned a lot from the food challenge. I learned a lot from this one because when I was reading through them, I learned about lots of traditions. I had never known that some people had traditions about what food they eat. I also learned about different types of food. I never knew that there were so many foods in this world. So overall I think that I learned a lot!

My favorite challenge was the writing about our favorite thing in nature. It was my favorite because I love nature, and it just made the challenge fun writing about something I love. I wrote about Exmoor ponies. I wrote about these ponies because they are something that I love and I thought that I would have a very good time writing about something I love. The challenge said to write about something you knew a lot about, so that is another reason I wrote about them.

WEEK #7 Exmoor Ponies – By Elizabeth

My favorite animals are horses. I have been riding horses since I was four. I love horses because they all have different personalities. I have ridden, nice ponies, bratty ponies/horses, calm ponies/horses, energetic ponies/horses.  Horses are unique and have evolved many times. Horses come from all over and they all have a talent. Jumping,Racing,Dressage, ext…

The pony I presently ide right now is named Chadwick. He is an Exmoor pony. Chadwick is brattiest horse you will ever meet. He bites me and bucks me off, but I still love him. He lives in a pasture with an apple tree and his own barn because he hates other horses. He has a very thick mane that always gets tangled in thorns. His mane looks like a bird nest. He is a bay horse with light dapple spots on his but. His ears are fuzzy and so soft. His eyes are so brown they look like melted chocolate. I love him so much even though he is a very bratty pony. I love him because he is cut and he always makes me laugh with his bratty behaviors.

Just a little history lesson on Exmoor ponies. They are going extinct and there are by 2010 only 800 left worldwide. They come from the British Isles and Devon Somerset Southwest England. Exmoor Ponies are the oldest British breed. The Celts came to Britain and trained them. Exmoor ponies have been with man for at least 30,000 years!

Week Five Blogging Challenge Activity 1

Activity 1

Even though I have no connection to Japan I LOVE Sushi. Sushi originally comes from Japan. Some people think that sushi is fish and seaweed and rice all wrapped up, but really it’s not. Sushi is actually a slice of fish and rice. No avocado no seaweed. Wait never mind it does sometimes have seaweed and other foods but you won’t see that much of it in Japan. Nare Zushi was the original type of sushi. It was first made in South East Asia. Some people think it was first made along the Mekong River. Sushi actually means “Sour Tasting” I hope you enjoyed my brief little History lesson on Sushi.

The Barn on Devils Drive

Only to find out it wasn't a dream. 😱 Dee Ashley via Compfight

“ Do I have to?”

“Yes, if you want to join the club,” said Laura .

“ Uh, okay.”

Rebecca walked into the barn shaking and sweating. She did NOT want to do this, but she had to, well if she wanted to be part of Laura’s club. Once she was fully in the barn, she turned around shut the door, and sat down. Why oh why did she have to sleep here?  In a gross old barn. If it was outside she would be fine, but it was in a creepy barn on Devil’s Drive. On Halloween Night.

“ Rebecca you don’t have to sleep here. You chose this.”  said a voice

“ AHHHHHH!” Rebecca shouted.

“ Awww don’t be scared!” said a voice.

Rebecca did not speak… she couldn’t. Her mouth was glued shut. The creature stepped out of the darkness. It was invisible, except for the eyes. The eyes were fiery red. When Rebecca looked into them she felt nothing. She felt like air. It was as if everything she had done in the world was gone.

The creature walked toward her. It looked her up and down and then something strange happened. She felt as if the creature was taking her soul. The creature started to look like Rebecca. Blonde hair grew where there was none before. Suddenly Rebecca felt pain, that she could not describe. She tried to scream but her mouth was still glued shut. When the pain stopped Rebecca looked at her legs but there were none there. When she looked at the creature she found herself…looking at herself.

The next morning Rebecca walked out of the barn, Laura was there waiting for her.

“ What happened to your eyes?” asked Laura.

“ Ah, I didn’t sleep very well last night.” Rebecca smiled.

This a picture of  a bouquet that my grandmother and I made  my Uncle’s wedding. My Grandmother had beautiful flower gardens all over her 88 acres. We went and picked the prettiest flowers for the bouquets. We spent at least three hours making these bouquets. I chose this memory because it was a time when the whole family was there and we were all pitching in too help. It was a really good day for me because I felt like I helped a lot. I still remember the way we placed the flowers outside right in front of the aisle to mark the pathway. It was a really great day!!

 Activity #1

I think that I am not so different online than offline. I try to be myself online without acting like a lunatic. I feel that you should always be yourself because if you become friends with someone who is different online you may not like them in real life. It’s also important though that you don’t go crazy online and post everything that’s going on in your life because that’s weird and also dangerous.

Activity #2

My name is Elizabeth, and I am in Shirley’s 6th grade. My hobbies are Singing, acting, horseback riding, and reading. I want to be an actress and singer when I am older. My favorite book of all time is Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I have four horses that I ride. Becket,Chadwick,Sundance, and Caspian. Becket is a creamy brown and white paint. Chadwick is a cocoa colored bay. Sundance is just like Becket with that creamy color. Caspian is a light brown and a has a spot on his forehead that looks like a heart. Over the summer I was recording an Ep for the songs I wrote. I am really excited for my album to be done.
