Human rights are extremely important when it comes to human beings’ lives. They make the world a better place to live and make life better. Without human rights, the world would have even more chaos than it does now. A very important human right is article 26 “everyone has the right to education.” Every child and adult deserves to have education. Many places around the world disobey the human right and don’t let people have proper education. I think that is very wrong and should be stopped because education for all is a human right.

Many places in the world follow the human right, while other places sadly don’t. In Pakistan, an amazing 16 year old girl named Malala Yousafzai stood up for girls rights to education. At the age of 13, she started standing up for girls who didn’t get education. During her protests she got shot in the head while she was at the Taliban. Luckily, she survived and then unfortunately went into a coma in which thankfully she came out of. Once she “woke-up” she wrote a book called “I Am Malala” talking about her story. She has become very, very inspirational and popular for MANY people. I think she is an amazing girl who should continue fighting for her rights and everyone else’s. I hope that her courage and outgoingness can rub off on everyone else in the world to make it a better, happier place.

In conclusion, all human rights are important. People in the U.S.A and many other places who follow The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, almost take human rights for granted. Without them, those places would be in terrible shape like Pakistan and other places in the Middle East. Luckily women, men, and children in the countries that completely follow the declaration of human rights, don’t have to suffer and don’t have as much unfairness like in the other countries. I am glad that Malala Yousafzai had enough courage to speak up and act so boldly. I think that everyone having the right to education is very important, and I hope that the countries who don’t follow article 26, will soon follow it for fairness.

Challenge 5- Tik Tok for Women – By Lexi

Tik Tok for Women:

By: Lexi Kaminski

Discrimination against Woman has and is still is happening in many parts of the world. In 1913, there were many more things women couldn’t do. They were things such as women could not vote, attend most Ivy League schools or become an astronaut. Here is a link to a rejection letter sent to a woman who was asking to be an astronaut for NASA. That’s just in the United States, and that’s what I will talk about. Hillary Clinton once said in a letter, “We don’t take girls”. Women’s discrimination in the United States in the past and present.

Like I said before in 1913 women couldn’t do many things. There were 9 or 10 main things that really bugged people. Women could not: vote, have credit card with their names, have a legal abortion, purchase pills, access emergency contraception, attend most Ivy League schools, go to graduate school after marriage, become an astronaut and become a Supreme Court Justice. Most of those law have been changed. Though in the present day there are still 3 things, only 1 of them listed on the list before that are a sad things for woman. They are: Access to legal abortion, paid maternity leave and woman being able to be CEO’s of businesses. Some women are CEO’s of companies, they are lucky though because only 4% of CEOs are women. Throughout the years many people have stepped up to try to stop these ongoing issues. Some of the most famous people are: Sojourner Truth, Jane Addams and Susan B Anthony. There were many protests with men and women in them to stop discrimination against women.

Women have been more and more free as clocks have ticked, yet today they are still not as free as men. And why do you think that is? I think that it’s because people tend to think men are stronger, smarter and just better. Maybe it’s because in the catholic religion man was first and woman was created out of men. That’s not what I think though. Women and men are equals. Everyone should have always seen it that way and should today. I hope that one day women will be treated no differently than men.

Privacy By: Alexandra A.

Blogging Challenge #5

Have you ever wondered what privacy really is?

Do your parents have an EZ-Pass? Well if they do, did you know that they are breaking their own right of privacy. How? The company of E ZPass can see where you are going after you pass through any E ZPass location.  If you think that’s strange get this, if you or your parents have a phone, people from any phone company can see what you search. Even gmail can see your information.

Did you know that the government can track where you are and what phone calls you have made.  Do you ever feel like you are being watched? Well you could be at all times. Google can also see your information. I don’t think that anyone should be able to track you and look at your personal information. I also have another thought, maybe it is good to have the government be able to track different people because people from different countries could be invading our country.

So there are good and bad reasons non privacy should be taken away.It is really your choice to do what you want to protect your privacy.
