THE AWAKENING By Fiona Starr

It was an ordinary day in Bexley London for the Martin brothers. The two boys were sitting at their dining table eating porridge. Their Mother Margaret Martin had two boys; Henry Martin and Peter Martin. They lived in an old wooden house, in the corner of town where nobody ever went.

“Mum,” Peter mumbled “I heard something in the walls.”

“Oh I’m sure it is nothing sweetheart.”

Peter  walked over and knocked on the wall, and suddenly everything started to shake. Peters bowl of porridge smashed on the wood floor.

Everything went dark as they heard a creaking noise coming toward them.

“AAH!” Henry screamed. He was no longer in the room.

“HENRY!” Margaret screamed.

She rushed to the door gripping Peter’s arm. She pulled on the handle but it fell off.

“Oh you think it will be that easy.” A mysterious voice said as margaret’s whole body turned into a skeleton.

Peter ran as fast as he could to the dumbwaiter. He got inside and used the rope to pull himself up to the 3d floor. He ran to the corner of the room, trying to breath as silently as possible.

“Oh this will be fun HAHAHA!”

Peter grabbed the salt on a small table across the room. It was said that no demon could cross a salt line, But this creature was not a demon. He made a small circle around himself. “Ha, you think those silly little tricks will work on me! I am not a demon you foolish boy!”

Peter felt a chill run over his back. A black smoke whistled around the room, as a loud and bright flash commenced. Suddenly a horned creature crawled slowly over to him.

Peter was dead in a second and nobody ever knew what happened to the Martin family.

Monkeys – Ethan

It was a snowy day here in London, England. The year was 1948, and I was just climbing out of bed to sell the morning Newspaper. Once I was out the door I heard a very interesting sound ‘CHING, CHANG, CHING, CHANG!’ It was the sound of the The Cymbal Monkey outside the Antique Store! I always wanted to buy this monkey because its sound was so perfect. I only needed five more Pounds, thankfully each Newspaper cost One Pound. Once I got to my spot, immediately I got seven Pounds! I finally had enough to buy The Cymbal Monkey…

I ran to The Antique Store, looked in the window and there was The Cymbal Monkey. I gave the clerk eight Pounds and he gave it me. I ran home as fast as I could and I quickly showed my parents my new toy and went to my room. I wanted to hear how it sounded, so I turned the monkey over and flipped the switch on his back. The eyes glowed bright red, but its sound was so perfect. I turned the monkey off and went downstairs. That night after supper as I laid in bed I heard ‘CHING, CHANG, CHING, CHANG.’

I rose to see The Cymbal Monkey, at the foot of my bed playing its song. Suddenly my Monkey ran at me, playing its song like a mad man. Smashing my head with its Cymbals! I grabbed the Monkey and threw it out the window into the garbage can. Right then my mom came running up and she saw my room, how messy it was, and she grounded me! I told my friends but they thought I was crazy. That night I was about to fall asleep, then I heard a ‘CHING, CHANG’ I screamed!!

Scary Story: The Red Hat – By Anna

“May I go to the bathroom?” Gracie Adler asked Mr. Patrick the gym teacher.

“Go ahead,” he told her. When Gracie was finished washing her hands in the dark cold room, she noticed something red in the corner. She skipped over and picked it up. It was a red knitted hat. Gracie was very smart so she ran to the lost and found and put it in the big pile. The next day she found the hat in the other bathroom at the school.  Again she put it in the lost and found. Whoever owns this hat loses it a lot she thought to herself.

Saturday morning Gracie woke up and looked on her dresser and saw the hat. Maybe I’ll wear it she thought. She put the hat on. Suddenly she felt like someone was watching her and almost controlling her. Gracie decided to walk her to friend Courtney’s house. When she got there Cortney was wearing an all new outfit. Gracie got jealous and said, “That outfit is so ugly,” She turned around and stomped out the door. She went home and told her mom she hated Courtney.

Gracie went to take a shower and she took the hat off. Suddenly, she felt herself again and she felt so bad for what she did. She wondered who was trying to make her wear the hat. Then, a girl dressed in all black showed up. “Who are you?” Gracie asked.

“I am the one who bewitched the hat,” the girl said.

All of a sudden, the girl did a spell to make Gracie fall asleep.

In the morning Gracie’s mom went to her room to wake her up. As soon as she walked in the room she fainted. There on the floor was the red hat. On the wall written in blood was, ‘The hat changed me’.
