About My Town – Cormac

I live in a town called Gardiner, but I’m going to tell you about New Paltz, since it’s right next to Gardiner, and has a lot of interesting history.  There is one street, called Huguenot St. that has tons of historically preserved houses on it.  These houses have a lot of historical value, and I once went on a tour there.  I live by Mohonk, and Lake Minnewaska.  I always get the two confused, but I think Mohonk, is the mountains where the people do a lot of hiking. Sometimes my mom takes my sister and I to Lake Minnewaska, to swim, and we pack a lunch, and it’s all really fun.  I love all the restaurants that are available – they offer a delectable cuisine and especially, the Mountain Bistro, and the Bistro in New Paltz.  My town is really great.  Gardiner, has a lot of interesting things to do though, as well. Please come to our town soon!

All About Me – Leah

Hi, I’m Leah! Here are some things I think you should know about me. I live in the beautiful town of Montgomery in New York. I have three dogs, two horses and a cat and I live with my mom, my dad and my twin sister Mira. Some sports that I do are horseback riding, swimming and softball. I also love animals, hanging out with my friends and cooking! This summer and last summer I went to an awesome day camp called Camp Red Wood. I did tubing, knee boarding, swimming, shooting bow and arrows at targets, playing lots of games and having a great time with new and old friends! This year I entered the 6th grade at a new school called Poughkeepsie Day School. I really hope I make new friends and have a great school year :)!

Observation Poem by Xavier

Cool teens swagger in to the room, looking  tired and bored.
Laughs and jokes come from the teens as they enter.
A student  tells a joke in the middle of class; the teacher is mad.
Seeing the students work hard after the teacher told them to stop fooling around.
Smelling my breakfast sandwich all “baconny” and cheesy.
Ringing of cell phones all  silenced by the students.
Only some know the math problem on the board, the rest try with all their effortsto solve it.
On the tables I see many papers being worked on.
My mother talks with teen after teen and tries to help them with their troubles.

My family and me – by Lukas

Week #8 Challenge

Let me tell you a little about my family. I live with my mom, dad and my sister Reilly in New York. My dad’s name is Dale and he is an executive producer of TV commercials. He LOVES TV, of course!  One of his other hobbies is basketball, so we love playing hoops in the summer and watching basketball on TV. My mom, Debbie is a full-time mom, but she is also studying for her masters degree. It is great to have my mom home everyday. My sister Reilly is 14, well she will be 14 in two days and she is in 8th Grade at PDS as well. She loves art and voice – I hope she puts those vocals to good use some day as she ALWAYS sings!

My extended family all live in Barbados. My grandparents own their own business, but they don’t have any hobbies, that I know of.  I have three uncles, two aunts and six cousins. My oldest cousin, Chance, who is way too cool, lives in Florida. He is sixteen and in 10th Grade. He lives on Facebook, but we love spending the summers together in Barbados.

Every summer and Christmas we all come together in Barbados. We enjoy going to the beach, surfing, swimming and sailing on the catamaran.  We have taken many vacations together as a family.  We have gone to California, Hawaii and Niagara Falls.

Next week is Thanksgiving. Every Thanksgiving my cousins visit from Virginia. It is a fun time. We stay up most of the night chatting, watching TV and playing Xbox. My cousin, Hunter is younger than me but we love playing the Wii together.
