127 Main Street Cockroaches by Annie

Four friends were hanging out on the corner of Main Street. It was the day before Halloween.

“Do you want to play ‘truth or dare’ Jacob? ” said Thomas.

“I want to play!” Jessica said excitedly.

“Don’t forget about me!” Ashley yelled.

“I’ll go first,” Jessica added, “I dare you Thomas, to lick the sidewalk!”

Without hesitation, Thomas bent down on his hands and knees, and gave the ground one big slobbery lick.

“Ewwwww!” screamed Ashley.

“Awsome, dude!” Jacob said giving Thomas a high-five.

“Okay My Turn,” said Thomas with an evil look on his face,

“I dare Jessica and Ashley to go into that abandoned house across the street!”

As they walked across Main Street there was a loud scream coming from the house.

“What was that?” Ashley asked in a scared tone of voice.

“I’m sure it’s nothing.” said Thomas reassuringly.

“Do we really have to?” cried Jessica.

“Oh, don’t be a chicken,” said Jacob, “We’ll wait right outside for you.”

Ashley opened the cobweb covered door. It made a loud creak. They walked in and the door slammed behind them. They saw nothing, but felt something tingly .

“AHHHHHH!” They both screamed. A little lamp suddenly turned on, and they realized that the things they felt were a thousand cockroaches!

“Gross!” cried Jessica.

“We’re not gross.” said the cockroaches.

“They talk!” yelled Ashley.

The cockroaches climbed up their legs and dragged them into the basement. The basement was filled to the waist line with slime. They both screamed. In the basement they saw all the children who were missing from the neighborhood!

“AHHHHHHH!” they screamed again as they got sucked under the slime.

Meanwhile outside the boys were laughing hysterically when they heard the screams.

“I think it’s safe to say they’re never coming back!” Thomas said still laughing.

On March 31st, 1923 a man named Robert Leonard Krause was born in Berlin, Germany. Robert is my grandfather on my mother’s side. When he was about one he moved to America on a boat. He moved because his dad wanted to start a picture framing store with an art gallery in America. They settled in the Bronx because it was cheap to live there. When he was about 5 he visited Germany to see family for five months. When he was about 11 they moved to Manhattan. Robert did not like the school in Manhattan so every day he took the subway to the Bronx to go to school because he wanted to be with his friends. When he was about 16 he joined the army because of World War II. His job in the army was interrogating German prisoners. He died January 23, 2014 at the age of 90.

Midnight By Matt

On halloween night, a man was on his bed doing his business work. Suddenly, he heard the door to his house open. He wanted to go and see who or what it was.

The man heard breathing on his neck. He darted off out of his house through the window and falls off his roof into a pile of leaves that he had raked that morning. “Something has my foot!” he screamed. He was losing consciousness and had blacked out. The next day he told himself it was just a dream and headed over to his friend Quinn’s house. He rang the doorbell and to surprise there was no answer. He looked in the house and saw a shadowy figure and Quinn dead on the ground.

Once again, he had fainted, and woke up in his bed. He told himself it was a dream again. He walked over to the mini mall across the street and  went into the store that was called T-Shirt Planet. It was quiet like it always was, but he did not see anyone, not even at the counter. He decided to go into the back to see if anyone was there, but he did not know that this was the last of him…

The Adventure of Pepito Corvette

Introduction

Imagine this, a shrill morning in early March, just standing and admiring the view off of the relaxing monument we call the Eiffel Tower. The warm sun beating down on your back making you feel as if you were covered in a cozy blanket. I am an artist named Pepito Corvette. I travel around the world searching for historical and famous artwork for my boss. His name is Fernando and is part of an international trade center that sells famous artwork for money. Oh yeah did I forget to mention illegally!

Chapter 1

Journey to the Eiffel Tower

“On April 16, 1989, I stared out of my hotel window into the distance of the land and breathed in a deep breath of fresh air. Then I set out to find the Mona Lisa at the Louvre that my boss had described to me in detail last night.

He specifically said, “Go in there posing as a tourist, then get all the other tourists and workers there out with your equipped system I have granted you with. Meet our other officer who will be wearing a gas mask and hand him the tracking device. Then sneak over to the painting and cover it with your cloth. Lastly get out as quick as you can. The last thing we need is the cops getting a clue of where we are. Remember, this can be a very dangerous job if you do it wrong.”

Of course there was always a time limit with Fernando, but I was not about to start complaining and blow our 100,000 dollars out the window!

So I pack up all my things, including my cloth, and set out to find the Louvre. You might think,
“Oh, that sounds easy!”
“Well let me assure you, it’s not easy routing your way through Paris when you don’t even speak french. Trying to find the people who speak English is even harder! At last I gave up when I stopped at a small cozy coffee shop called L’Autre Cafe for a drink. The first waiter I had was a real pain in the neck. I kept on asking him, “May I please have the menu or at least a waiter who speaks English!”
The waiter muttered something in french, then walked off into the kitchen. 15 minutes went by until a lady waitress came to my aid.
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience earlier, I am Shayla and I’ll be your waitress today.” She said.
I said, “Thank you but all I want is a espresso and directions to the Louvre.”
Shayla gave me a map and my espresso and I was on my way. I finally found my check point, The Eiffel Tower. As I traveled to the top I noticed someone or something following me.
