We are starting to put pictures on our blogs. There are two sites called Flickr-cc and Creative Commons that we might start using. On the sites there are two little C’s (cc) which means Creative Commons. That way you know that using the picture is legal and safe. There are copyright laws that say you can’t just grab pictures off of websites because you are supposed to get permission and give the website credit for using their pictures. Before you take pictures off of Google Images, Yahoo Images, etc. you should call or email the owners to see if you can use their pictures or see if the pictures have a Creative Commons license.
On some websites other people could take your photos and use them in ads, schoolwork, etc without you knowing or getting your approval. I used to just go on Google Images and take pictures, but now I know not to. Pictures on blogs will make them more interesting to read and give them more color. I think it’s going to be really cool and fun learning how to put pictures on blogs!
