Good Games and Websites- Alex

For my blog post I choose Activity  #9 , which was to choose a few games or websites and write about them in a blog post. I looked at three different websites or games.

The first website I looked at was How big is your global footprint? This game/website had a quiz to see how much you care about the world. The smaller footprint the better. When I took the quiz I got a -40, which was pretty good. This website had information about saving and protecting the world. There are lots of cool and different things that you can check out on this site.

The next site I looked at was  Roots and shoots. This website was about Jane Goodall. Jane Goodall was a woman who protected animals.   Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots provides people with the knowledge, tools and inspiration to improve the environment and the greatness of spending time with animals. On this website you are able to join Roots and shoots. Check out this site.

The last website I looked at was Geography games. This site is for us to learn about the world that we live in. You can learn about the geography of different places around the world. You can also play map match. Choose a place and match them up. This is a good way to practice where each place in your continent is. You can also play capital catch. You choose either worldwide or U.S.A. Then match up each capital. The last game is called latitude and longitude map game. Practice latitude and longitude in this game.  You should check out this site.

These were the three websites that I checked out. If you want to see more go to this site. Go down to activity #9. Hopefully you visit these three very cool sites. Enjoy!

Five of my favorite things- Alex

Blogging Challenge #9A

People everywhere around the world have favorites. From favorite color to favorite sport. The point is that everyone has favorites and nobody can change that.

For example my favorite color is turquoise. I just love the color with the mix of lots of blues and greens. It makes such a beautiful color. My favorite food is sushi. I love fish and for some reason I also love the nori which is by the way seaweed. But my absolute favorite part of sushi is the rice and soy sauce. I love the sweet and salty taste of sushi. I think it is my favorite food because of how many different flavors are in it.

Next, my favorite sport is softball. I really haven’t played a lot of sports but my favorite is softball. When I’ve played I have had so much fun. Also my favorite singer is the one and only Selena Gomez. She is my favorite singer. When I was about 8 for my birthday my dad took me to a Selena Gomez concert and I got second row. I even touched her hand. I also love her songs. My last but not least is my favorite movie. My favorite movie is Tangled. It was basically another version of Rapunzel. I also love Disney Princess so Rapunzel is one of my favorites.

Blogging Challenge #5

Have you ever wondered what privacy really is?

Do your parents have an EZ-Pass? Well if they do, did you know that they are breaking their own right of privacy. How? The company of E ZPass can see where you are going after you pass through any E ZPass location.  If you think that’s strange get this, if you or your parents have a phone, people from any phone company can see what you search. Even gmail can see your information.

Did you know that the government can track where you are and what phone calls you have made.  Do you ever feel like you are being watched? Well you could be at all times. Google can also see your information. I don’t think that anyone should be able to track you and look at your personal information. I also have another thought, maybe it is good to have the government be able to track different people because people from different countries could be invading our country.

So there are good and bad reasons non privacy should be taken away.It is really your choice to do what you want to protect your privacy.

Haiti Fundraiser- By: Alex

Blogging Challenge #4

Activity #3

Everybody usually gets presents for their birthday. Well I am going to change that. This year I am going to have a birthday party and instead of presents I am going to have people give me shoes. Why shoes? Well I am donating shoes to the children in Haiti. This is because there was a hurricane called Hurricane Isaac in Haiti and most 491px-Isaac_Aug_28_2012_1630Zfamilies lost everything. If children have no shoes it can affect their health because when they get scratches on their feet. Then it will get infected and the infected could spread in their bodies. I am donating to a program called Souls4 Soles. Now if you ever have a birthday or if you’re just feeling generous,  and you want to help children that need shoes, now you know one thing that you can do to help.

Day in the life of – Alexandra A.

Blogging Challenge #3

On a usual school day morning I get up at 5:45 in the morning. I go back to bed and get up at 6:00. I eat cheerios for breakfast or a waffle. Then I get dressed and put my shoes on. I need to brush my teeth and my hair. I pack my backpack and lunchbox. I go outside at 6:45 and the bus comes at 6:55. In between that time I let my chickens out.

It takes me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to school everyday because I have to take 2 buses. I take 1 to the Highland middle school and the other to Poughkeepsie Day School. When I get to school it is 8:10 and school starts at 8:15. I unpack my bag, check my schedule, and get my things to go to class. I have an 8 letter day rotation which means a different schedule everyday. An A – H day schedule is the 8 day rotation. My technology at Poughkeepsie Day School is computers. We basically use them for every class.

At 3:15 school is over. I put all my homework and anything else I need to bring home in my bag. I get on the bus and it takes me to the Highland middle school. I get on the other bus and it takes me back home. I get home at 4:15-4:30 and if I have homework I do it. If not I relax. That’s my whole day.
