Nature’s Classroom. By Justin

When we went to Nature’s Classroom it reminded me of a camp/hotel kind of place. I was really excited and nervous to go. When I got to the parking lot at school to go I started to cry a little bit. Once I got into school I was fine for about ten minutes. Then every five minutes I would cry but not in a scared way.  When we put our stuff on the bus I was fine. When we got on the bus and after thirty minutes being on the bus I started to get really bad anxiety.

Twenty minutes later I started to calm down. We finally arrived at Nature’s Classroom in Becket Massachusetts. We went inside and found out our room number then unpacked some of our stuff and then went to dinner. After dinner we had transition time which is when we had 20 minutes to do whatever you need to do to get ready for your next class. The first night we had little fifteen minute classes with all of the group leaders.

After those classes we had singalong. That’s when some of the group leaders go up on the stage and sing songs with us. I didn’t really enjoy that because some of the songs that we sang were songs that I listened to with my mom and it made me think of her. So that me really sad. But afterwords I felt better. When we got back to our cabins My friends and I went to bed.

Overall I had a good time and a bad time at Nature’s Classroom.

My Passion – Swimming By Yasmeen

I am an athletic person and I like competition and game time. One of the sports that always brings out the competition in me is swimming. I swim at Marist College for the Red Fox Aquatic Club In Poughkeepsie NY. This is my second year swimming there, and I wouldn’t change that experience for the world. Swimming has always brought out the confidence in me. One day my dream is to swim at the Olympics and take home that trophy. One of my biggest inspiration is Michael Phelps.  Swimming helps me focus, if I am in a bad mood swimming has always been there. If I am stressed with school swimming has always been there. Swimming is something that has always been there for me and I never want anyone to take it away from me.

My name is Yasmeen and here is my story about my passion for swimming. It was a Friday afternoon and I was ready to do the 200 freestyle. Each 25 is a lap that means a 200 is 8 laps. I was getting ready to go up. I was racing my two friends and that was it. I dove in I started out in first. I was just about halfway through the first 25 and one of my goggles fell of. I knew if I stopped I wasn’t going to win, I wouldn’t drop time, neither would my coaches be happy. On top of all of that I would get disqualified from my race. I was very happy my coach told me that before my race.

I came to the wall and could see the wall with one goggle. While my other eye had water pounding into it like there was no tomorrow. I could see my friends Gabby and Julia on the sideline telling me to keep going. I could see my coach Paul waving his paper and yelling. I did the first flip turn. By the first 4 laps I was still in first. I kept saying to myself, ‘You can do it Yasmeen, just keep going’. Every time I took a breath I could see the judges and pool officials looking at me. They thought I was going to stop. Well they thought wrong. By the next 6 laps I was head to head with one of my friends. I started sprinting to the other end. I beat my friend to the wall and hit the pad. I heard all my teammates and coaches cheering for me. I took my cap and goggles off and waited for the next swimmer to dive in. I climbed out.

At the wall I saw my friend Gabby. “Yasmeen you did it!” . Then gave me a hug. She gave me my towel and flipflops and took me to my coaches.  “Great job Yasmeen,” Victoria told me.

“ You okay?” was the first thing my coach Paul told me. I nodded my head. He smiled and said “Good work!” I got high fives from everyone. I went to the locker room to change. As I was opening the door, Iheard a lady in the microphone say “Congratulations Yasmeen for completing her 200 freestyle.” Then everyone clapped.

I finished changing and came out of the locker room. My dad smiled, “ Great Job!”

“Awesome job Yasmeen!” my mom added. That day my dad took me goggle shopping and out to eat. I felt awesome and tired. If there is one thing I am going to say to all athletes, it is  when the going gets tough you have to keep going, or else you can’t say you tried it. Swimming will always be my confidence booster. Home is where the pool is and it will always be my home.  Never give up and always work hard. “ When you want to breathe as bad as you want to succeed that is when you know you’ll be successful” ~ Eric Thomas.

Week #3 Challenge Time for a Break

 Time for A Break

I have played two games, Refugees in Sweden, and Stop a Disaster. Refugees in Sweden is a very sad game, it is where you have to keep your Refugee camp safe the militia. The whole point is where you have to find water where there are military people in trucks. Or you could grow crops using the village water and when the military attack you have to rebuild all the houses that were knocked down.

Now the game Stop a Disaster is where you can choose a disaster and you make defences using your $50,000 budget. You also have challenges like, build a hospital, and build two Hotels. When you have a low budget you can press a button that says Start Disaster, once the disaster starts you see what disaster it is and the Disaster appears and ruins the little town. Then a newspaper appears and you see the results and how well you did.

Week #1 CHALLENGE POST!!! By: Eamonn

WEEK#1 CHALLENGE#2

ALL ABOUT ME

My name is Eamonn and I live in New York in the United States of America. One thing that a lot of people know me for is my running. I have been competing in adult road and cross country races since I was four years old. The first real road race that I did was called the Midnight Run in New York City . It was four miles long and went around the perimeter of Central Park. I did it with my dad and mom. That race was nine years ago and my running has improved a lot since then.

Nowadays I am running 5ks in about eighteen minutes . The longest race that I have done is seven miles long and completely in the woods. It is called the Leatherman’s Loop and takes place in Pound Ridge, New York. It is one of my favorite courses to run and it all happens in April. That race usually  starts at nine in the morning and most of the time takes me about 48 minutes to finish. The course has three river crossings in it and goes through some of the most awesome pine forests I have ever seen.

One of the things that I do when I am not running  is going out into the woods. When I go out into the woods I usually build forts. It is exciting to build forts because I get to use nature, not man made materials to build things. At the school that I previously went to, we had actually created a village out of little huts, on our own, without any tools. I had made my fort on the edge of our village which allowed me to get the most business. It was really cool mostly because we had thought of and created everything including a small government ( I had gotten the job of town sheriff).

I also take karate and kickboxing. A lot of the time I do both. In karate I am about to become a green belt which is pretty high in ranking. The kickboxing a little harder to do because it is made for grown ups but they always let some kids in. On Saturdays I can even do three workouts in two hours. I start by going to karate for forty five minutes, then I go to the kick boxing class for another forty five minutes, and then to finish it all off my dad and I run about two miles back to our house.

My final hobby is Legos. At home if I have nothing else to do I will just sit there and build these amazing creations. My method for building with them is to get sets, build them, destroy them, and then use those parts to build parts to build other awesome things that just pop out of my mind. I build mostly twelve inch sets. It is cool to let my imagination create different things and then for my hands to build them. The main reason that I like building with Legos is that it lets me escape the real world and go into one of my own creation.

That was just a little about me and what my hobbies are.
