CHALLENGE POST – Week #3 – BY Eamonn

Week#3 Tow and Country

For me I will always prefer the small town. My main reason is that in the city there is no woods or big spaces to go out and explore. In a small town you can have and do the exact opposite from what you can do in a city. For example, if you live in a small town the houses are a little bit apart which allows you to be a little louder then if you lived right above someone in an apartment building.

It is important to me that I can have a big place outside to do things that you can’t do in the city. If you were to live in the city for a long time you would learn that you can’t even go out at night in certain parts of the city unless you are with others or in a car. If you live in a small town you can stay outside and just hang out until you get tired, or just feel like going inside. In the city some people think that going to the park is like going out into the forest. If you are like me than you would know that going out to the park is not really being out in the woods. If is pretty much like being at cement piece of ground with things that you can play on.

If you like being part of a community and being surrounded by your neighbors then living in city is pry most ideal. If you like living near people but not being right on top of each other then living in a small town would most likely suit you. Living in the city allows you to have everything that you need in one building like a small laundromat and a small maling section so that all the mal that is delivered to the building. When you live out in small towns you either have to like going to the laundromat or have every thing that you need in your house.

All in all I would never like to live in the city, but I do like to visit the city.

Week #3, Activity #6

Week #3, Activity #6

If you could live anywhere in the world, universe or world of books, where would it be and why?

I would live on Mount Olympus! I would want to live on Mount Olympus because then I could be raised and witness the power of the 12 Greek Olympians and the other minor gods in Greek mythology.

I would also like to buy an island. I would name it “Ibblestan”. I would name it Ibblestan because my sister Fatima always calls me “Ibbles”. I would like to live there and make everything there by giant Lego bricks. It would the ultimate Lego land! I would also make a program in where people would make things with Legos, and then I would make them real! It would be cool for everyone, because I would make everything for very small kids with plush Lego duplos and everything for older people extremely complex and hard.

In all, I think living on Mount Olympus or in “Ibblestan” would be really fun and cool at the same time! I could also learn about things like the Greek way of thinking about life and creation. I could also learn about problem solving and architecture in “Ibblestan”. It would be really fun and an equally amazing learning experience!

Summer – Ethan

My summer was very interesting. First, my dad, my brother, and I went to South Carolina where we went to North Myrtle Beach, and many other places in South Carolina because we have a house there. At Myrtle Beach, my brother and I could go 75ft out into the water and it would still be at our knees, but when the waves came in it was brutal! My brother and I were being tossed around, while my dad was on the beach laughing hysterically.

The next day after that mess my dad bought me a bb-gun and we went to the railroad tracks and set up targets, and my dad, my brother, and I shot like pros (pretty weird because none of us have ever held a gun before.) Then we went to miniature golf at the boardwalk, which was a blast! After golf we all went to “Magic Quest”, which is a big building inside of which is a game where you are magi’s (wizards) and there are different levels and bosses. We were there for two hours.

Then it was time to go back home to Red Hook where I had a theatre camp awaiting the next day. The camp was  “Peter Pan” and I was cast as Peter Pan [the boy who doesn’t want to grow up]. The performance was at The Rhinebeck Center for Performing Arts. After that little play I tried out for the “Real Deal” play which was Peter Pan again (also at the Center), and I was cast as John Darling, (the oldest boy), which should be fun. Then once auditions were over my whole family, and I went camping with our camper out in Amish Country in Pennsylvania and in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts.

First was Amish Country, and since we were in Amish Country we saw A LOT of Horse and Buggies, which was interesting. But our campground was amazing, it had a water park, laser tag, miniature golf, and so much more. The first day we were there we traveled around the camp ground in our rented golf cart to see what was there, later in the day we all went to the water park for three hours. We went to the water park every day, but some days we went to laser tag, miniature golf, also an Amish town where that night we went to the best restaurant in the universe, Millars, their food was delicious.

Then we went back home for a couple of days, then we went to the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts where we went to another campground that was not as nice, at all. We did not spend a lot time there, we really just went to Boston because we we only there for three days. In Boston we went to Quincy Market and a lot of shops, then we came back home to get ready for Poughkeepsie Day School the next day. That ends my crazy summer.
